The circuit in Fig. 1 reproduces a voltage UM in response to a short trigger pulse TR as a voltage UR . This voltage is applied to a standard digital voltmeter (DVM). Reproduction is effected by means of a closed loop comprising a differential amplifier input stage, a comparator C, a flip-flop FF, and an integrator with an operational amplifier A. Assuming that a DC voltage is applied to the illustrated circuit and that UR is zero at that time, then the output of C is positive. FF is switched by the next trigger pulse TR, generated by a suitable trigger circuit, so that output Q is positive and output Q negative. The output of A then moves in the positive direction until the next TR causes UR to exceed UM .
