Congestion Control System for Fast Data Networks

This system introduces a new way of transmitting service commands between a DCE (Data Communication Equipment) and a DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) associated thereto. The systems of the prior art make use of the following three signals: - a common clock signal for inbound and outbound traffic 1 which is a single phase clock signal, - a data out signal 2, - a data in signal 3. In the system described therein, a phase modulator is added between the DCE and DTE to provide a biphased signal 4 which is substituted for signal 1 at the same frequency and can carry information obtained by phase modulation in addition to the clock information. The DCE transmits commands to the DTE, by modulating the biphased signal in accordance with pattern information.
