Abstract

A copier monitoring system usually comprises a host computer and a collection of copier terminals. Each terminal is connected to a copier in the system. A number of activities can occur at each copier that are of interest in the system, e.g., that the terminal is disconnected from the host computer or operator assistance is needed at a terminal/ copier. The host computer has a CRT display and line printer. The application software that monitors and communicates with the terminals in the system detects the state of each terminal which may be: (1) Online and not in use; (2) Online and in use; (3) Disconnected from the host computer; or (4) Requesting assistance via the use of the "Call Key Operator" button. Each of these terminal states is displayed on the CRT screen.
