Abstract

This method of interframe cabling of large multi-frame computers will reduce the time required to install cables in the system, assemble the system on a test floor, install a system at a customer site, and also reduce cabling errors and damage in all phases of system handling. An example of utilizing this method is shown in Fig. 1, which is an ideal routing but does not necessarily result in the absolute shortest cables. When the shortest possible cables are necessary, the routing shown in Fig. 2 should be used. Figs. 1 and 2 show the routes taken on only one horizontal plane, while Fig. 3 shows the vertical distribution. THe cables are supported at the node points denoted by the dark spots.
