Bearing Alignment and Installation Technique Using Radiation-Curable Adhesive

The present invention is directed to a technique for the alignment and bonding of sleeve bearings. The technique utilizes radiation-curable adhesive to secure sleeve bearings and produces adjustment-free low stress assemblies while maintaining high production rates. The technique of the present invention is particularly well suited for the bonding of sleeve bearings 2 in a printer carrier 4 shown in the figure. The printer carrier 4 is provided with carrier wells 6 into which the sleeve bearings 2 fit. The diameter of the carrier wells 6 is such as to provide sufficient clearance between the carrier wells 6 and the sleeve bearings 2 for a layer of radiation-curable adhesive.
