Abstract

This innovative tool allows verification that a TCM (Thermal Conductive Module) is properly seated in its TCM board socket. The cam check tool, as shown in the figure, is inserted in the camming hole of a TCM after the module is plugged into its board. If the module is not cammed correctly, the tool will not fully insert, indicating that the TCM must be reseated correctly. Passing this test assures the proper relationship between the base plate on the TCM and the board, within .005 inch. When the TCM is properly seated, the top of the green line on the gage will coincide with the top of the cam guard on the TCM. Any amount of the green line showing is acceptable; however, if any portion of the red line is visible, the TCM must be reseated.
