A print hammer mechanism has a flexural impact element actuated by an electromagnet to propel a print hammer impact mass. As shown in Fig. 1, element A has rigid arms c and d with a flexible connection at flexure point e. Impact mass K engages element at flexure point e. One end of arm c is connected at fixed pivot point F; one end of arm d is connected with movable magnet armature g at movable pivot point P. The lower end of armature g is connected at fixed pivot point H. Element A is prestressed by stop member V in the assembly so that it can effectively restore the armature g. Stop member V may be movable to adjust the degree of stress and the position of impact mass K.
