Abstract

An arrangement is described to permit the operator of an interactive text processing system which has a color display device to select the colors that are desired for the different fields and symbols that are displayed to the operator. In this arrangement the system maintains a "Color Translate Table" (CTT) which the system uses to select the colors to be employed for the various fields of the screen. The system is initially provided with a set of color defaults that will be employed to color the screen unless the operator selects a menu option that allows these defaults to be changed. If the operator chooses the "Change Color Defaults" option, a new menu is presented which shows all fields whose colors may be changed, along with the foreground and background colors that are currently stored in the CTT.
