Abstract

When using the dual-axis center-locating system the operator has to manually inspect the panel being drilled for hole location. In order to accomplish this, the magnification of the optical system must be reduced, thus producing more than one image into the field of view. Video masking allows the locating system mentioned to measure hole centers produced by the Tru drills while other drilled hole images are in the scanning field of view. The concept is to create an electronic mask large enough to contain the drilled hole under inspection as well as the drilling tolerance, but not large enough to include any other image. The masking hardware and its associated concept are as shown in Fig. 1.
