The scanner section of an auto-tester comprises two, one-dimensional array, CCD line-scan cameras which are fixed in position relative to each other but capable of linear and rotational movement relative to the plasma display panel being inspected. It is necessary to align the camera sensor axis to the first row (and every subsequent row) of the panel to facilitate testing on a "row by row" basis [*]. The two cameras are arranged with their sensors along a common axis and are capable of two distinct modes of operation: a) One mode allows the cameras to operate independently with data on the sensor addresses where light-dark or dark-light transitions occurred. b) The second mode allows the cameras to appear as one large camera to the software and collects packed binary data from a predetermined subset of the sensors available.
