Abstract

It has been shown that the degree of cure of current magnetic disk coatings is highly dependent on raw materials, cure temperature, % 02 and the flow rate of evolved gases and make-up gas. Proposed here is the use of a controlled atmosphere oven where the % 02 can be varied from < 15 ppm 02 to 100%. The flow rate of evolved gases will be controlled by the input gas pressure and the resultant chamber pressure.
