In tape drives it has been difficult to accurately orient a magnetic read head to the tape and maintain the orientation. The present designs provide arrangements for accurately orienting the head and maintaining the orientation through extensive use. The designs also enable ready readjustment of the head whenever misalignment should occur. The magnetic head is mounted on a rotatable cylinder which is in turn mounted within a second rotatable cylinder or a parallelogram linkage to provide for both lateral and skew adjustment of the head. Embodiments of the design are shown in the figures. In Fig. 1, a magnetic head (not shown) is mounted on cylinder 10. Cylinder 10 is mounted eccentrically on a primary cylinder 20.
