Abstract

The bulk chemical sampling equipment shown in the figure can be used to obtain a representative cross-sectional sample of the liquid contents of a bulk tank. The sampling equipment is composed of a one or more threaded tubular sampling stick segments 1, a check ball 2, an adapter unit 4 and a sample bottle 6. The sampling stick 1 is provided with a nozzle section 8. The nozzle section 8 contains a contoured seat into which the check ball 2 securely fits. One or more threaded sampling stick segments may be used depending on the depth of the bulk tank to be sampled. The exposed surfaces of the sampling equipment should be of a material compatible with the chemicals to be sampled. Since TEFLON* is compatible with most chemicals, TEFLON is a preferred material.
