Abstract

A wave soldering machine conveyor for batch soldering has process stations for fluxing, heating and wave soldering. In order to reduce the cycle time, the conveyor speed is increased between the process stations. A sequence of opto-sensors is triggered by a flag on the conveyor to change the conveyor speed. In a wave soldering machine the conveyor speed through the fluxing, heating and wave soldering stations is determined by the need to ensure high quality soldered joints. As shown in Fig. 1, a batch of parts leave start at high speed A until the flux unit is reached, when the speed is reduced to a lower process speed B.
