Abstract

A real-time multiple data editor provides integration of all data on a single page in relation to each other in dynamic editable form. The page may contain both text and non-text object sets including images, graphics, tables, annotations and handwriting. Object sets may be moved into positions on a page such that more than one object set is occupying a single displayable area on the page. The editor supports footnoting as an advanced editing function. In order to create a footnote, the user performs the following functions: First, the user points to the place on the page where she/he wants to insert a footnote reference. Then, the user selects the CREATE action from a displayed command bar. This causes a pop-down panel to be displayed from which the user selects the footnote option.
