Abstract

A real-time multiple data editor provides integration of all data on a single page in relation to each other in dynamic editable form. The page may contain both text and non-text object sets including images, graphics, tables, annotations and handwriting. Object sets may be moved into positions on a page such that more than one object set is occupying a single displayable area on the page. A problem in this type of editor is providing a mechanism that allows the user to create multiple object types on the same page in the same document. For example, a CREATE command that would be used to create a paragraph differs from a CREATE command that would be used to create a business graph or a spreadsheet. The solution to this problem is to allow the user to point anywhere within the page and then select the CREATE action.
