Abstract

One of the types of tables supported by a real-time multiple data editor is a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets are used to model information relationships based on calculations. The spreadsheet consists of a rectangular pattern of rows and columns, the intersection of a row and a column defining a cell. The value displayed in a cell may depend on a calculation based on a user-specified formula that in turn depends on the values displayed in other cells. When editing a spreadsheet, the user may want to display the formula for a given cell rather than the value. Currently, formulae are only visible in an audit window when cells are selected for editing or when the formulae are printed.
