A method is described to permit the operator of an interactive text processing system employing a printer-mounted tractor mechanism to choose a page eject function selectively depending upon the type of document that is being printed. When an operator prints a document to an IBM Graphics Printer, the forms alignment of the printer is such that the last page of the document is left with the tractor wheels still firmly holding the form. If the operator wishes to remove the form, it must be advanced past the tractor device which destroys the forms alignment for subsequent documents, requiring the operator to realign the forms or paper before it can print another document. If the operator takes the printer offline and presses the "form feed" button, the forms will advance one form length most of the time.
