Abstract

Bulk wire replacement for document stitchers used in an office environment is simplified by supplying the wire in a replaceable cassette having a pair of wire straighteners. Replacement is easily accomplished in a simple and clean manner. Thus, an untrained operator can perform the change, rather than being dependent on service personnel. Fig. 1 is a side view of the cassette. Fig. 2 is a front view. Stitcher 10, shown only in outline form, is equipped with a latching device (not shown) that firmly holds cassette 11 in place. This cassette contains two sets of straightener rolls 12 and 13. These rolls serve to straighten wire 14. A spring-mounted tensioner 15 controls de-spooling tension, and assists in absorbing the sudden length change that occurs during a stitch cycle. Wire spool 16 is mounted in the cassette.
