A method is described on page 6127 which provides contextual help for the operator based on the location of the cursor or an equivalent device being used in the system. The operator is not required to select from a menu of Help topics. A method is described herein for displaying the Help information in a manner that the application content is maintained. When the operator requests help by pointing or cursoring a particular element within an application panel and after executing the Help command, Contextual Help information is displayed on the screen with the current application panel. This is done in one of two ways: 1. The help information is displayed at the bottom of the application panel. The Help information overlays a portion of the application information.
