Abstract

A slotted bearing makes it possible to easily install a shaft assembly between existing side frames. The shaft assembly may include gears, cams, levers, etc. In the application shown in Fig. 1, an eccentric shaft 10 with integral adjusting arm 15 is installed between side frames 35 and 45. The shoulder 12 on the left end of shaft 10 is seated in slotted bearing 20. Slotted bearing 20 is shown in Fig. 2. Slot 22 is slightly larger than the width and diameter of shoulder 12 on shaft 10. Slot 24 is equal in width to the diameter of the left end of shaft 10. The interior 26 of the bearing is the same diameter as shoulder 12 on shaft 10. To install, shaft 10 is introduced between side frames 35 and 45, and shoulder 12 is inserted into bearing 20 through slot 22.
