Abstract

This article describes cover configurations for printed circuit cards. Fig. 1 is an exploded view of the card and cover assembly for a 1.1.2 2 pitch card cover. The left side cover 1 has four studs 2 which are positioned to fit into openings 3 of right side cover 4. In assembly, the card 5 is positioned on the left side cover and is ultrasonically welded/hot staked to that cover. The left side of the cover assembly is plastic, while the right side is metal where I/O connectors 6 are mounted. The studs 2 on the left side cover are ultrasonically hot staked/welded to the right side cover to form the card assembly. Notches 7 located on the left side cover will effectively polarize and fix the printed circuit card to that cover.
