Abstract

A plastic petal guard is mounted on a motor plate to eliminate the bounce of a print hammer and keep petals of a print wheel away from the hammer during rotation of the print wheel. A print wheel 1 has a plurality of petals 2 for printing characters on a platen 3 when a pivotally mounted hammer 4 moves the selected petal 2 of the print wheel 1 into engagement with the platen 3 through a ribbon and paper. The print wheel 1 is rotated from a motor (not shown) through a coupling 5. A motor plate 6 of the motor has a petal guard 7, which is made of DELRIN* acetal resin, mounted thereon by a pair of screws 8 (one shown) extending through elongated slots in a base 9 of the petal guard 7.
