A temporary alignment aid is detachably and accurately secured to a component intended for robotic assembly. The component is initially located on a parking fixture where the aid is detachably secured thereto. The component and aid are then moved to an assembly location. A further component is located on the parking fixture and the aid is detached from the component at the assembly location and detachably secured to the component at the parking fixture.
