Abstract

A ribbon shield frame is provided which is located directly on the platen of a line printer in the up/down and in/out directions. As seen in the figures, upper ribbon shield frame 10 carries locating gussets 11. Up/down locating surface 12 and in/out locating surface 13 in gussets 11 contact corresponding surfaces on platen 14 for positioning upper ribbon shield frame 10 relative to ribbon 15, upper forms guide 16, print band 17 and print hammer 18. A lower ribbon shield frame 19 with plastic ribbon shield 20 and forms compressor 21 are located below platen 14. As seen in Fig. 2, ribbon shield frame 10 is supported on casting 22 by pivot 23. Springs 24 and 25 allow the frame 10 to float and to be forced into accurate vertical and horizontal locating position on platen 14.
