This article describes a method for displaying real numbers and integers, including commas, on the IBM PC display panels when using the EZ-VU development facility. The user exit is written in IBM Pascal to be called from Pascal programs using EZ-VU for panel definition and panel display. No provision was made for the display of real numbers in decimal format, e.g., 1234.567, on panels called by Pascal programs. There was also no way to allow the user or a Pascal program to insert commas in a real number on a panel. The Pascal real number user exit does all formatting and editing, e.g., checking for numerics and signs, commas and decimals in the right places, of real numbers and of integers in which commas may appear. The exit displays its own messages when editing errors occur.
