Abstract

In an editor that provides for the creation and modification of documents, it is common to provide various editing functions, such as insert, delete and move. However, when a letter or other document has been marked up with many paragraph moves, the editing process becomes tedious since each paragraph to be moved must be individually marked by a block cursor and then the new location of the paragraph pointed to. This process is quick and convenient for moving one or perhaps two paragraphs, but when multiple paragraphs must be moved, the user needs a way to automatically rearrange the paragraphs easily. The solution to this problem is to provide the user with a sort function. The editor allows the user to name the objects, i.e., paragraphs, lists, lines and the like, and then sort the objects by their names.
