Abstract

A function that is provided by an integrated multiple data editor is that of allowing objects to reference the attributes or data belonging to other objects. The editor refers to the referenced object as the parent and the referencing object as the child. If the attributes or data of the parent object are changed, the attributes or data of the child are automatically updated. Within this editor a problem can occur if a user forgets which object is the parent object. This is most likely to happen if a parent object has many children. The solution to this problem is to allow the user to update the data or attributes of the parent as a part of the updating action on the child.
