Image sensors utilized in security cameras are required to provide reliable operation in varying lighting conditions. When the illumination level becomes extremely low their sensitivity is not sufficient and a supplementary illuminant need to be used. In many security related applications the illuminant can emit only in the infrared spectrum range that only makes possible capturing of monochrome images. With such a source of light, closely located objects are excessively illuminated that causes sensor saturation, while background objects are poorly illuminated and are not captured by the sensor.
