This article describes easy-to-understand diagnostics for use in a copier monitoring system where it is essential to provide a customer, with little effort or prior knowledge, a means to diagnose the operation of the system. One system function of importance is the correct reporting of copier features as they are selected at each copier in the system. The copier monitoring system uses the IBM Personal Computer and Copier Control Devices (CCDs) to control and to monitor copiers. In an online mode, i.e., always communicating with the CCDs in the system, the Personal Computer receives a report of each copier's activity.
