Abstract

Alterable steering devices assure that good circuits are connected to certain, identified I/O pads. Thus, all chips having an equal number of good circuits can be assigned a single part number, regardless of possible difference in physical location of failures. Providing the capability to interchange I/O connections between chip circuits and module pins allows specifying part numbers by the number and identification of pins with good circuits. For instance, 100% good chips have all pins utilized and constitute one part number. Chips with (n-1) good circuit connections and with assurance given that these will be found at module pins #1 through #(n-1) can be given another part number, etc.
