Microprocessor Controller DC Current Load Module

This circuit provides program adjustable DC current loading of power supplies for a power unit test. The load module 10 takes digital data from the controlling microprocessor 12. Digital-to-analog (D/A) circuitry 14 in the load module converts the digital data from the microprocessor 12 into an analog control voltage that is used to drive five individual current-carrying circuits 16. These five current-carrying circuits 16 can be selectively turned on and off by digital data from the controlling microprocessor 12. The current-carrying circuits contain current sense, feedback and error amplification components to regulate the amount of current that is allowed to pass as dictated by the control voltage.
