High Speed Instrumentation Sequencing/Triggering System

This article describes a high speed instrumentation sequencing/triggering (HSIST) system for controlling linking of instruments at high speeds to perform a sequential measurement or testing task. The instrumentation control system shown in Fig. 1 allows the programmable set-up of a set of instruments to perform a sequence of tasks or measurements at high speed of a unit under test in real time. The instruments shown are typically used in high speed measurements. They monitor and drive the unit under test via a probe interface. The instruments in the system are controlled by a computer via a computer control interface bus. This control interface is a low-speed interface that replaces front panel control of the instruments and collects data from them for processing.
