Abstract

A plastic container for ten 8-inch reels of one-half inch magnetic recording tape allows stable stacking of a number of the containers on pallets and the like. Since the container is made of plastic, it can be used to transport the reels to clean-room areas, such as tape test centers. Figs. 1 and 2 show a side view and an end view, respectively, of a container with cover 10 lifted. Base 11 includes a cradle portion having cylindrical internal surfaces 13 against which the flanges of the horizontally stacked reels abut. Pads 14 cushion the ends of the reel stack. The bottom of base 11 is shaped to receive the top of cover 10, thus facilitating vertical stacking of the containers. The sides of base 11 are vertical, thus enabling horizontal placement of the containers adjacent to one another. Fig.
