Modification of Hexadecimal Representations in Disassembly Window

An arrangement is described for use with the Debug Facility (DF) that is described on page 167 in which the operator can dynamically modify a window of disassembled instructions by over-typing the hexadecimal representation of one of the instructions being displayed. This is accomplished by the operator moving the cursor to the hexadecimal representation to be modified and over-typing with hex digits the new memory contents. Changes are reflected immediately after each keystroke in the window. The DF knows when the cursor has been placed over the hex digit of the disassembled instruction, and after each hex digit is entered, modifies memory accordingly.
