An arrangement is described for use with the Debug Facility (DF) that is described on page 167 which permits the operator to dynamically delete a Disassembly Window (DW) by pressing one predetermined key while the cursor appears anywhere in the DW. This is accomplished by moving the cursor to any location in the DW to be deleted and pressing the predetermined key. This causes the DW to be combined with the previous DW. The DF knows at all times what DW the cursor is in, and when the delete key is detected, the DF looks for the previous DW and combines the affected DW lines with those of the previous DW by modifying the affected DW Code Segment (CS) and Instruction Pointer (IP) values. In addition, the operator may dynamically delete a DW by issuing a command which specifies the DW the operator wishes to be deleted.
