Code Origin and Location Counter Display for Debug Facility
Original Publication Date: 1985-Jun-01
Included in the Prior Art Database: 2005-Feb-18
An arrangement is described for use with the Debug Facility (DF) that is described on page 167 which permits the operator to have a window of disassembled instructions displayed based upon displayed Code Origin (CO) and Location Counter (LC) values rather than the normal display based on displayed Code Segment (CS) and Instruction Pointer (IP) variable values. The operator sets the displayed CO variable by a command to the desired base value. The DF automatically determines for each line in a Disassembly Window (DW) whether the sum of the disassembly line's CS and IP values are within the 64K of the set CO value. If it is, instead of displaying the disassembly line with its associated CS and IP values, the line is displayed with CO and calculated LC values.
