Reworkable Epoxy Joint
Original Publication Date: 1985-Jun-01

A high resistance electrical heating element, such as NICHROME* wire, is located within a joint between two work pieces joined by epoxy. When the work pieces are to be separated, an electric current is passed through the heating element, which causes the epoxy in the joint to soften, thereby allowing the work pieces to be separated. The reworkable epoxy joint is illustrated in the figure. * Trademark of Driver-Harris Co.
