Thermal detectors are commonly used to switch circuits off whenever the temperature raises above a given threshold. When the circuit is connected to a host, the switching off should be identified and reported to the host for maintenance purposes. This is achieved by separating thermal condition reporting from switching-off command. A number of the thermal detectors are connected to a local processor, which reports to the host any critical thermal condition, close to switching-off threshold. Separately, the thermal detector is connected to a disjunction command to report thermal conditions at threshold and thus switch the power supply off.
