Abstract

In many modern data processing systems it is possible to have different memory configurations. For proper operation of the system it is essential that the memory configuration have both proper power/memory option matching and that the memory and power cards be installed in a specific location and sequence. A power sequence and monitor (PSM) card is often provided for the purpose of power on sequencing and moni toring of a power system. Predecessor systems used manually placed jumpers on the PSM card to hard-wire feature information on the PSM card. This method has no checking for a valid configuration, and if the manually placed jumpers are improperly placed, the possibility exists for improper monitoring of a power system.
