Abstract

It is best, in the electrophotographic printing process, to prevent the flow of developer mix through the nip area during start-up procedures. A simple method, to prevent this flow, is to position the magnetic core of the pick-up roll so that it will not transport mix during start-up as shown in Fig. 1. After start-up, the core can then be rotated into position for normal development, as shown in Fig. 2. The device for rotation can be a stepper motor or a solenoid.
