A housing to support electrical apparatus has an internal space for the storage of excess highly flexible cable with signal-carrying conductors, the cable entering the space through an aperture in the housing for connection to the apparatus, and the excess cable being freely accommodated in the space in non-coiled manner and being gently and releasably gripped at the aperture. A plinth base 1 supports a display monitor unit 2 in rotatable fashion on a central rotating support 3. The end of a flat highly flexible cable 4 with signal-carrying conductors passes through the support 3. The base has an internal space 5 from one face to beyond the support 3, in which space excess length of cable 4 is stored in zig-zag or fanfold fashion.
