The Control Unit Rack disclosed permits the effective doubling of the number of the control units occupying the floor area in data processing installations by permitting floor level and upper level mounting. As shown in the figure, the rack structure includes pairs of vertical frames 1, which have horizontal extending skeletal members 2, which are fastened securely to a stable floor; and a horizontal skeletal platform member 3, at the top of the frames to which the upper level control unit 4 can be fastened. Securing hardware for the skeletal platform members preferably uses insulating materials to prevent unwanted grounding of equipment. The vertical frames are stabilized by a horizontal brace 5 between each pair of frames. Plenums 6 are used both for cooling and cable routing.
