An Automatic Teller Machine security system shreds all currency in the machine upon any attempt to break into the machine. The figure shows a schematic representation of an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM). Currency is stored in cash bins 1; each has a means for dispensing documents, singly, to transport system 2, driven by motor 8. To issue currency, deflector 5 is withdrawn and transport 2 carries the documents through feed rolls 3 to delivery pocket 7. Alternatively, deflector 5 directs documents through feed rolls 4 to reject bin 6. The ATM is powered from an external power source 11 through transformer 9. A back-up battery and charger 10 is provided. The ATM enclosure 12 is fully lined with a security grid 14. Any attempt to break through enclosure 12 violates security grid 14.
