Abstract

A method is described which allows the height of a row and width of a column to be automatically adjusted according to the font size of the characters within the cell of the spreadsheet. In some interactive spreadsheet processing systems, the operator has the flexibility of changing the font style of characters within a spreadsheet. The operator defines the height of a row and width of a column to be a fixed number of characters. If the operator changes the font of a block of characters within a cell, the new size of the characters will need to be taken into account for the height of the row and width of the column. This new method allows the height of the row and width of the column to be determined by the font size of the characters within a cell up to the specified number of characters for the row and column.
