A method is described which allows cell data generated from a calculation formula to be shown within the cell upon selection of that cell. Any data entered into the cell is treated as a calculation formula. If the calculation involves any mathematical operation using other cells, columns, or rows (R1C1+R1C2, for example), then the data will be generated from those cells; otherwise, the data will be equal to the calculation formula. If the data is generated from a calculation formula, then the data is not allowed any modification. If at any time a cell is selected, the calculation formula is displayed within that cell. The operator can modify the calculation formula to obtain different data. After the cell is deselected, the data will be shown within that cell.
