Abstract

This article describes a technique for automated handling and inserting of printed circuit (PC) boards into a laser printer by a robotic device. One method of inserting PC boards is by manually placing the edge of the board upon the edge of the turntable of the laser printer. The connectors are inserted into the slot in the turntable and pushed inward, as illustrated in Fig. 1. After the PC board has been inserted deep enough to contact an end stop, the manually operated palm buttons are depressed to activate the machine. The PC boards are brought to the machine in containers with the boards stacked on end with the connectors on top. These containers are on a wheel cart which is removed when all boards have been laser engraved and a new batch is wheeled in upon a similar cart.
