Abstract

A single-shot with an appropriate time constant is used to give a digital representation of a composite video signal. The digital signal can be used to indicate whether or not the output of the video signal is toggling or not. The digital signal can be used by a host logic or to light an indicator such as an LED (light-emitting diode) for an operator to see. Fig. 1 gives a graphical representation of a composite video signal. The video signal may be the output from some type of video adapter logic card. Oftentimes it is desirable to monitor this signal digitally to determine if the signal is working properly. The signal includes a video information section enclosed by two sync pulses. Fig. 2 gives a circuit arrangement that monitors the video output and generates a digital signal representative of the video output.
