Method for Detecting High Resolution Position of Optical Lens

A method for automatically detecting a symmetrical high resolution position of an optical lens is described. In Fig. 1, an image of a resolution chart 1 is projected onto a charge-coupled device (CCD) 3 through a lens system 2. Output signals of the CCD (Fig.2) are amplified with a preamplifier 4 and converted by an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter 5. Signals of the image of a scanned area are stored in a line buffer 6. The leftmost data and the rightmost data in the line buffer are stored into a left point buffer 7 and a right point buffer 8, respectively. A controller 10 functions with two signals (Z-direction and Z-offset) to move, through an actuator 11, the lens 2 along the Z axis by a predetermined distance.
