This circuit automatically sets the correct power supply overcurrent limit or level in response to the different load requirements of the various possible configurations of a data processor and thereby eliminates the requirement of manual intervention. Overcurrent sensing circuit 11 of circuitry 10 provides current Is proportional to the power supply load current being sensed at input 12. The resultant voltage Vs that develops across Rs after attenuation through high impedance (relative to Rs) filter 13 is compared with reference voltage Vref in comparator 14. Comparator 14 functions as the overcurrent detect circuit of circuitry 10. Detection results when the attenuated level of Vs equals that of Vref.
